CET Presents CCM Orchestra Series: Mahler Symphony #4

In a continuing celebration of the local arts in Cincinnati, CET will present The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s (CCM) Orchestra Series: Mahler Symphony #4 at 8:30pm Sunday, Oct. 27, on CET Arts.

Conducted by CCM Director of Orchestral Studies Mark Gibson, this concert was recorded this spring as part of CCM’s Mahler Marathon, which was dedicated to the memory of loyal arts patron and UC alumna Louise Dieterle Nippert with the support of The Louise Dieterle Nippert Musical Arts Fund. A classically trained singer, Mrs. Nippert was a soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 1957.

CCM’s Concert Orchestra will play selections from Mahler’s “Des knaben Wunderhorn” (The Youth's Magic Horn) followed by his “Symphony No. 4 in G Major.” The symphony was written to represent a child’s vision of heaven.

Local CET Arts programs like CCM Orchestra Series: Mahler Symphony #4 are made possible for broadcast by:  The Louise Dieterle Nippert Musical Arts Fund with additional support from The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. / U.S. Bank Foundation; Sallie and Randolph Wadsworth; The Eleanora C.U. Alms Trust, Fifth Third Bank, Trustee;  Macy’s; and The Wohlgemuth Herschede Foundation.

In addition to being available to over-the-air viewers on digital channel 48.3, CET Arts is available to Time Warner Cable digital tier customers (channel 987), Insight/Time Warner Cable Northern Kentucky digital subscribers (channel 192), and Cincinnati Bell Fioptics Basic and Plus subscribers (channel 4.)
